Abstract— The rapid development of digital technology has transformed the way individuals manage their financial transactions. Digital payment systems have become an important component of everyday economic activities, enabling consumers to transfer money, pay bills, purchase goods and services, and conduct other financial transactions without relying extensively on physical cash.
In India, the increasing availability of smartphones, internet connectivity, mobile banking applications, QR-code payments, debit cards, and other electronic payment facilities has contributed to the growth of digital financial transactions. The convenience and speed offered by these payment methods have encouraged consumers to incorporate digital payments into their routine financial activities.
The increasing use of digital payments may also influence broader financial behaviour. Consumers who regularly use digital payment facilities may develop different patterns of spending, transaction monitoring, budgeting, saving, and financial decision-making. At the same time, concerns related to security, privacy, technical difficulties, lack of awareness, and trust may influence consumers’ willingness to adopt and continue using digital payment systems.
The present study proposes to examine the influence of digital payment adoption on consumer financial behaviour in India. The study will use a quantitative research approach and collect primary data through a structured questionnaire. Consumers who use digital payment facilities will be approached for participation in the study. Factors such as convenience, ease of use, security perception, trust, and frequency of digital payment usage will be examined in relation to consumer financial behaviour.
The study is expected to provide useful insights into the changing financial habits of consumers in the digital economy. The findings may be useful for banks, financial institutions, digital payment service providers, policymakers, and researchers interested in digital finance and consumer behaviour.
