Abstract
The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed numerous industries, and the pharmaceutical sector is no exception. This manuscript investigates the influence of e-pharmacies on traditional pharmacy retail business models, focusing on how digital platforms are reshaping consumer behavior, supply chain dynamics, and overall business strategy. Using a mixed-method approach, the study integrates a comprehensive literature review up to 2021, survey data from consumers and industry experts, and statistical analysis to assess shifts in market dynamics. Findings indicate that while e-pharmacies offer enhanced convenience, improved access to medications, and competitive pricing, traditional pharmacies face challenges related to regulatory constraints, reduced foot traffic, and the need for digital integration. The study further explores strategic responses by traditional retailers—including enhanced service offerings, omnichannel marketing, and technological innovation—to mitigate disruptive pressures. The implications for stakeholders, from consumers to policy makers, are discussed alongside recommendations for future research to further explore the evolving landscape. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the structural changes within the pharmaceutical retail sector and provides actionable insights for industry stakeholders navigating the digital transformation era.
